John Ryan Design is a group of website design and development professionals located in Melbourne, Australia.
We develop websites,internet and cross-media applications and content management systems, educational and training tools, and print based media.
Mission:
To serve our clients' aims with integrity while preserving the highest standards.
We don't believe in spending money unnecessarily, but we do believe in value for money. We also believe in communication. We'll spend enough time on a brief to make sure that you're happy with the proposal before we commit any resources. And you'll sign off on it before we start. Whether it's between client and account manager or designer and programmer, we know from experience that good documentation can save the day. Thats why we'll always keep you posted with development on your project and (God forbid) if there's a problem, we'll know in enough time to fix it!
Credentials
All our staff are qualified professionals with tried and tested capabilities.
They have Degrees, Diplomas and Awards as required. Macromedia and Adobe Certified Professionals. Some of the crew have formal qualifications in design and some don't. Most of the programmers are self-taught although we've spotted a few certificates and diplomas around the place. If they couldn't cut the code they wouldn't be working, and it's plain to see that they're working!
Experience
Our team has many years' collective experience in the design and production of promotional material.
They've collected invaluable knowledge throughout the course of creating everything from simple logos to interactive games and e-commerce websites.
Personnel
Core unit of six people, with guaranteed access to many more, as the project requires.
Each team member has a particular and sometimes unique skillset, yet they all know enough about the processes connected to their work to be able to provide extra support when required.
More importantly, they all share a passion for what they do; this is evident in the quality of their work and the attitude they share with clients and co-workers alike.
You could say that they're happy making a good living doing something they love to do in an environment that suits them!
Skillset
Traditional designers and typesetters, layout artists and photographers, art directors and comps, all well versed in digital technologies.
Add hardcore programmers and commited production marines, put it together with strategic suits who know the market and you've got us!
Design: Concept and Copywriting Image Capture, Creation and Processing, Design and Illustration, both 2D and 3D, Typesetting and Page production Animation Video and Sound Editing.
Programming: HTML Java Javascript Cold Fusion Shockwave: Director Flash, Actionscript, Flex, Object Oriented Programming, CSS, PHP, Database Design, and content management systems to drive 'em.
Network
No succesful business operates as an island, so we're commited to keeping our ears to the ground for new ideas and techniques.
We're always on the lookout for new talent and are hooked up with many of the major software and hardware vendors in some way. Not only that, we're involved in local user groups and keep track of international events via blogs and bulletin boards.
We're at the bleeding edge of the technology at times and the network always seems to come through for us when we need it.
Services
We encourage experimentation and support design development in an organic way to ensure that the brightest ideas maintain their glow long after we've finished the project.
The fire is set through solid research and development, fuelled by competent production and set alight with creative sparks.
Marketing
When you communicate with prospects, customers and suppliers, you want to ensure that your message is clear and your image of professionalism is consistent and secure.
So we take the time to get a good brief, then develop the right marketing strategy. We research until we can input no more. Then we really go to work.
Design
The process evolves in our creative sweatshop, with designers and art directors outdoing each other with marvellous ideas until such time as it clicks.
Then, if they can convince the programmers that it's not just another crazy idea they made up over lunch and a chardonnay, the designers and the boffins go to work to make the ideas into reality!
Copywriting
It's easy to fill the void with meaningless words, so we pay our copywriters more for what they don't write!
The production team works together with the programming team, from initial brief through production to final delivery.
We're not scared to use the red marker if it doesn't sound or look right and would rather say nothing at all if there's nothing at all to be said!
Production
Our production team gives the ideas form and function using the best tools known to man, and before long it's being presented to the client for approval.
The fact that someone probably stayed up all night working on it so that the account exec could present it at 9am sharp is beside the point but proves that we work as a team.
There's a tried and tested scheduling device in place and so far it has not let us down. We promise - we deliver!
Training
Need to get sales, marketing, admin, etc up to speed with a software product, service, safety requirement etc?

We can design a training package or sales tool for you, or if you've got a specific project, we can work with you to make it happen.

Media
We create and maintain multimedia applications and websites. Among other things - from something as simple as brochureware or as complex as fully integrated cross media and e-commerce sites.
We also do print and advertising work - from business cards to annual reports, flyers, labels, you name it, if you can print on it, we'll put your name on it!
Location
Melbourne Australia is Latitude 37 degrees 50 minutes and Longitude 147 degrees 0 minutes East.
We have a great climate, despite having four well defined seasons in a year. (Melbourne sometimes has them all in one day!). Because we run a virtual office, most of our staff operate from home via cable or ADSL and we co-ordinate from ours.
Everyone seems to enjoy working this way and no client has ever had a problem with it. It seems that letting people work in their own comfort keeps them happy, not to mention the positive effect it has on everyone's bottom line.
